It is my God that is Good.

“And the earth was waste and without form; and it was dark on the face of the deep: and the Spirit of God was moving on the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” (Genesis 1:2-3)

I was waste, without form, dark and in the deep. I was tired, lonely and afraid. I had pain so deep it showed itself as anger. I had no more tears and doing things the right way was no longer right to me. Every time I tried to lift my head above the water, something would push me back under. “Every man for himself” I screamed in response. “I will be your fool no longer life!” I bellowed. “You’ve dealt your last card against me world, hereon I make my own luck” I cried. I tried to turn to the faith of my childhood but no relief came, no peace, no aid. Every angle I was being hit. My eyes became dim and my heart began to fail from the weight it was under, stone is hard to carry you know?

But one day something moved across the face of the waters. “Let there be light” I heard, far in the distance. “And peace be with you” I heard whispered.

One day I laughed. I laughed. I’d forgotten the feeling. My circumstances had not changed, I even thought it had worsened, but that day I laughed. “Hope? Is this what they call hope?” my soul questioned.

God was moving across the waters of my soul. It was Him who gave me my joy, my smile, my giggle, my laughter. It’s Him who brought me from the pit of despair, pain and loneliness. It’s because of Him why you can assume I’ve never seen a day of hardship, fear, pain, death. Its because of Him I live again. Don’t you know that its for FREEDOM that you are free? And though the darkness rages, in God the battle is already won. He has the power to silence it. Oh child of God, will you let Him help you? Ask Him today. Know that though all else has failed you, you can TRUST Him. There is no depth that you’ve fallen into that He can not forgive you and save you from. Ask Him, trust Him and stand still and see the salvation of Your God!

Don’t you know that its for freedom that you’re free?

Prayer:
Oh God, I want to be free. I believe you gave up Your only Son, Jesus Christ, that I may be free. Forgive me Lord, set me free and help me. I need your help because I can’t do it alone anymore and I know through You, all things are possible. Set me free. In Jesus’ name I pray…Amen
